1Who I am and what this note covers

I am Kason Damien Zheng, based in Singapore. I run this website (the "Site"), which shares my professional experience and lets verified visitors see more detail and download my resume. When this note says "I", "me" or "my", it means me.

This is a personal website, so this note is short and plain. It explains how I collect, use, share, keep and protect the personal data you give me when you verify your email, and how you can contact me about it. It applies to the Site and the emails I send from it, and it is written with Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) in mind.

You can browse the public parts of the Site without giving me anything. I only ask for your details if you choose to unlock the rest.

Browser storage

After you verify, your browser keeps a sign-in session so you do not need to verify again on the same device. It also remembers your light or dark choice and a small counter that limits how many codes can be requested from one browser. These stay on your own device. You can clear them in your browser settings, and you will simply be asked to verify again.

I do not use advertising trackers or sell advertising on the Site. If a security check is switched on to block bots, it may set its own small technical cookie.

3How I use information

To check that you are a real person with a work email before I show my experience, education and contact details.
To email you a one-time code, and the download links to my resume if you ask for them (the links expire after 7 days).
To receive an alert that someone has verified, so I know who has been in touch and can reply or follow up when it makes sense.
To keep the Site safe, stop abuse and fix problems.
To respond to your messages and your privacy requests.

I rely on your consent for this, which you give by ticking the box on the form. I will not use your details for a different purpose without asking you first, unless the law allows or requires it.

4Who else handles it

I do not sell your personal data, rent it out or hand it to anyone for marketing. A few service providers handle it on my behalf so the Site works: a database and sign-in service, a hosting service, an email delivery service and, if I switch it on, a bot-check service. They may only use it to provide their service to me.

I may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect the Site and its users from fraud or abuse. If you would like to know which providers I currently use, ask me at privacy@simplykason.com.

5International transfers

The services above may store or process data in countries outside Singapore. When that happens, I rely on providers that commit to protecting personal data to a standard comparable to the PDPA, and I only share what is needed for them to do their job.

6Retention and deletion

I keep your name, email and verification records for as long as they are useful for professional contact, or until you ask me to delete them, whichever comes first. I review the list from time to time and remove entries I no longer need.

One-time codes expire quickly. Download links expire after 7 days. Routine server logs are kept by my hosting providers for their own retention periods. If you ask me to delete your details, I will delete them from my records and ask my providers to remove them where I can, unless the law requires me to keep something.

7Security

My experience, education and contact details are not in the public pages of the Site. They are released only after a successful email check, and access to the stored records is limited to me and the services that run the Site. I also use limits and checks to reduce abuse. No website can promise perfect security, but I take reasonable care.

If something goes wrong with personal data I hold in a way that is likely to cause you harm, I will tell the people affected and the authorities where the law requires me to.

8Your choices and requests

You can ask me to:

tell you what personal data I hold about you and how I have used it;
correct anything that is wrong;
delete your details; and
withdraw your consent to my using or keeping them.

Email privacy@simplykason.com from the address you used, so I can match your request to my records. I may need to confirm it is really you before I act. I aim to respond within 30 days, and usually much sooner. If I cannot do what you ask, I will explain why.

If you are not happy with my response, please tell me first so I can try to put it right. You can also contact Singapore's Personal Data Protection Commission (pdpc.gov.sg). If you live elsewhere, you may have additional rights under your local law, and I will respect them where they apply.

If you withdraw consent, I may no longer be able to keep you verified, so you may need to verify again to see the locked parts of the Site.

9Children

The Site is meant for professionals and is not directed at children. I do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you think a child has given me their details, please contact me and I will delete them.

10Changes to this note

I may update this note from time to time. When I make a meaningful change, I will change the effective date and version at the top. The version on the Site is always the current one.
